Tom MacKenzie: Guestbook
Emily Jane MacKenzie I
April 5, 2008
Tom MacKenzie is the greatest musician/father on the face of the earth. No seriously. I don't think you understand his undying devotion towards myself and the banjo as well as the other various wondrous instruments that he plays. He's pretty much the man. His (well...OUR) home smells of rich mahogany and is filled with many leather-bound books. You'll find him in his studio 60% of the time EVERY time.
Love ya pappy,
Em

Tom, I was very glad to hear that you are back in Wood's Tea Company. It is sad the way it had to come about, but I know Rusty and Chip will be happy that their music will still go on. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Townshend , VT. next year. Good Luck and may God bless you , Michael, and Howard. Lyn

I'm writing this on your blog both to embarress you publicly (cause you know how much I love doing that) and because I know if I say it in person you'll roll your eyes as if to say "oh god PLEASE don't talk sentimentally....it makes my ears burn!" I just wanted to say, again, how honored I was to have represented you at Rusty's service. I think the reason it was so hard to speak was because I know the relationship between Katie and Rusty is so much like ours. That's something that I never want to lose and that I cherish above everything. I love ya you ol coot. I can't wait for our first lunch once I'm back at school, and I'm going to get all my friends to come and see Woods Tea play when you guys come.
:)
Love,
Your lovely daughter and best friend,
Em

Hi Tom, I saw you once again with the Woods Tea Company last week-end in Townshend, VT. I was a thrill to see and hear you again with them!, however not under the circumstances. I would like to extend my sympathy to you on the loss of your friend Rusty, he will be missed by all you knew him. I hope you continue to play with Woods Tea, I would appreciate seeing and hearing you again. Thanks for the music! Lyn

Hi Tom
Just wanted to relay that I enjoyed exploring your website and I like your layout and content. Like the way you play Reel d'Beatrice. Those Canadian tunes have alot of substance,eh? Have had the opportunity to play with some superb Canadian fiddlers over the past few years......Have you heard the playing of Mark Sullivan and Shane Cook? Look them up on the web.
The Ruffwater String Band is still loosely together.
As for me, it's the contra dances and small jam sessions that keep my juices going.
Keep up all the good things you're doing ..... Hope to catch up with you later this year if possible.

Hey Tom,
Just browsing the site. I still miss playing with you and hope we connect before too many years. I'm playing alot of gigs, though not much trad music of the Northeast lately. Mostly klezmer and Beatles. The Beatle Band, the Nowhere Men, is quite busy these days and it's a gas. Please give my warm regards to David Carpenter and hope to see you in the next year. Love to the family.

Tom, Thanks for all of you and each of your volunteers efforts during SAMW. The sound was always the best (except during power failure) :-) You also added an element to the songwriting class we attended together. I'm looking forward to next year, but hope to see you sooner.
